Step into an immersive narrative where ancient trade routes and modern hospitality intertwine. DOOD (meaning “smoke” in Persian) transports diners to a reimagined Silk Road—where Persian and Levantine flavours are kindled over open flames and threaded through every design detail.
Interiors draw inspiration from caravanserai and nomadic tents. Dramatic silk drapery, organic stone-inspired bars, and warm, hand-crafted furniture create an otherworldly yet tactile atmosphere. Custom textiles reinterpret Persian rug tradition with Farsi symbols and motifs; framed artworks – charcoal, pastel, hand-painted by the design team – all tell stories from the silk road.
The weather-worn corten exterior glows softly out across the river Tyne. Guests enter down a cobbled, lantern-lit path lined with dried spices, Persian coin rubbings, and artifacts set against a textured Silk Road wallpaper. Inside, layers of stone, leather, amber glass, rope-hung lighting, and a suspended Bedouin-style canopy above the bar culminate in a theatrical and deeply atmospheric dining experience.
DOOD is more than a restaurant—it's a cultural haven, a journey through time, and a sensory celebration of nomadic heritage.
