Mumian Shanghai Expo, The Unbound Collection by Hyatt, is situated in Pudong New Area, adjacent to the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition Center. As a distinctive property under the Unbound Collection by Hyatt, the hotel combines personality with local cultural character. The Unbound Collection emphasizes “individual narrative and unique experience,” and so we drew on the inspiration of a “mansion’s secret garden” in our design, integrating the distinctive Shikumen architectural aesthetics of Shanghai, Art Deco style, and modern minimalism to craft a “New Shanghai” urban salon blending historical warmth with contemporary vitality.
The lobby is arranged on a strict central axis, with a grand floral installation placed precisely at the visual focal point. Six pairs of towering floor-to-ceiling louvered windows stand in deliberate opposition, creating a sense of order and rich spatial layering. The So Nanyang restaurant is adorned with lush greenery and floral art. By orchestrating scenery shifts with each step, every transition within the space becomes a surprise.
