Inspired by the clients’ affinity for the Nordic lifestyle, Story & Day begins with the daughter’s beloved Finn Juhl sideboard, extending its calm, tactile quality into the entire home. The 122-square-meter residence is conceived as a flexible system rather than a fixed layout—using dyed birch veneer, fabric sliding doors, and modular furniture to compose a gentle rhythm of daily life.
The design negotiates the different sensibilities of mother and daughter: the mother values simplicity and brightness, while the daughter prefers a touch of artistic nostalgia. Through material tonality and lighting balance, the team created a space that is both harmonious and expressive—the dark-stained birch in the public zone echoes retro warmth, while lighter hues maintain openness and clarity.
Minimizing fixed decoration, the project employs water-based, low-formaldehyde coatings and movable furniture to ensure adaptability and reduce waste. Storage systems conceal wiring and structure, preserving visual calm. The result is a sustainable living environment where life naturally shapes the space, allowing stories and days to unfold freely over time.
