Nestled in Austin’s Bouldin Creek neighborhood, Green Pastures traces its roots to an 1895 farmhouse on a 50-acre estate, opened to the public in 1946 as a beloved gathering place. Today, the oak-shaded grounds, resident peacocks, and tranquil setting reflect the site’s enduring role in Austin’s hospitality, just blocks from the city’s cultural districts.
Over the past decade, a phased master plan has preserved the heritage oaks while introducing new experiences. Phase I transformed the original farmhouse into Mattie’s, a restaurant and event venue embodying the site’s matriarchal charm. Phase II, introduces The Inn at Green Pastures, a new hotel designed to complement Mattie’s warmth with a refined, modern character.
Sited beneath mature oaks, the three-story, L-shaped Inn incorporates below-grade parking and offers a peaceful retreat from the city. West-facing bays open to a private pool courtyard, bar, lounge, fitness center, casual eatery, and event spaces, all oriented toward the landscape. Generous overhangs provide shade and support passive environmental strategies. Interiors blend a refined yet welcoming atmosphere anchored by Henry’s, the Inn’s restaurant and bar.
