Punta Gorda is a mountain-coast destination located near Santa Cruz de los Zacatitos, Baja California Sur. Nestled between rugged topography and the Sea of Cortez, this residential retreat for 12 guests harmonizes design, nature, and sustainability. Developed in four stages, the project adapts to the terrain, minimizing environmental impact through strategies like passive cross ventilation, solar energy capture, and wastewater reuse. The first stage includes the main social areas—living-dining room, kitchen, terrace, and services. Subsequent stages add bedrooms, a pool, plunge pool, and family room, gradually shaping a fluid and functional program. Local stone and earthy finishes ground the architecture in its context, while the central living space frames sweeping views of the sea and desert mountains. More than a getaway, Punta Gorda reimagines the relationship between built space and landscape, offering a model of sustainable mountain living that celebrates coastal serenity and ecological responsibility.
