Set within the landscape of Jägala Waterfall, Estonia, the Wellness Retreat is designed as a sanctuary for healing: physically, mentally, and spiritually. The name of the project, The Veil of Reflection, is closely tied to its concept, where reflection is included both as an inner journey and as a natural phenomenon. The project follows the topography by framing views of the river, the waterfall, and the surrounding forest, creating a harmony between the built environment and the site by dissolving into it rather than dominating it. The spatial organization prioritizes slow movement, privacy, and accessibility. The centre’s functions are developed around the four natural elements: earth, water, air, and fire, each corresponding to a distinct form of therapy, while structural analysis ensures balance between cantilevered components and grounded cores. Local traditions are integrated to enhance authenticity and cultural resonance.
The material palette consists of textures such as local limestone and wood, emphasizing simplicity and sensory balance.
Ultimately, architecture becomes a spiritual mediator between the human being and the natural environment.
