We present GUÍ, a name that means fire in Zapotec, born from a central concept: fire as a unifying and inspiring element, rooted in the traditional fogón as a symbol of Zapotec culture and community life in Guelatao.
The spatial layout revolves around this idea, placing gastronomy at the core of the experience. An open kitchen becomes a social gathering point, complemented by culinary workshops and live demonstrations of local crafts such as weaving and ceramics, appealing to both tourists and local residents.
The project also includes a gastronomic market offering regional products and artisanal bread, strengthening the local economy. GUÍ is conceived as a socially responsible project, promoting educational and cultural spaces that preserve and share traditions while supporting local producers and artisans.
Architecturally, the proposal respects its physical and cultural context through the use of local materials and references to regional architecture, seamlessly integrating the design into the landscape of Laguna Encantada. Ultimately, GUÍ brings together tradition, community, and responsible tourism in a single space.
