The site located next to Shanwangping Forest Park, the first karst ecological park in China. In order to meet the consumption needs of tourists, an old dwelling folk house is decided to be converted into a boutique hotel. This project aims to retain and respect the rural culture and natural environment of the site. The design completely preserves the original courtyard space and the exterior texture of the building, and updates it with contemporary amenities. It is hoped to create a new living space experience in which tradition and modernity co-exist in nature. It is hoped to retain the sense of traditional and historical building, while integrating the skills of modern art, to create an aesthetic space that is “unnaturally natural”, integrating man and nature, architecture and interior. It makes the architecture and interior space have a more traditional value, and it also reminds people of the feelings of their childhood hometown in nature. The cedar forest around the site has been carefully preserved. When people standing in the courtyard watching branches tossing in the wind, the surrounding trees have awakened theirs sense of belonging to nature and homeland.
