Set within the illustrious Prince De Galles hotel in Paris, Akira Back is the Michelin-starred chef's first European outpost offering an exceptional pan-Asian gastronomic experience. The luxurious interiors aim to transport guests into the chef's culinary artistry, seamlessly harmonising original Art Deco features with Back’s contemporary and vibrant style. Taking its cues from the “Japonisme” arts movement – a fusion of the Japanese art of the 1920’s and Art Deco – the design fuses techniques of pattern, lacquering and framing with modern undertones. Expressive and personal art pieces provide a striking contrast against the rich indigo restaurant backdrop, whilst drawing the eye to the impressive brass sushi bar and intimate private dining area. A sympathetic palette of smoked glass, bronze mirror and blackened timber paired with intricately crafted furnishings and warm ambient lighting inject high drama and opulence into a once tiresome hotel space. The new interior design has successfully awakened iconic 1920’s features and introduced a modern materiality that enlivens and enriches the hotel F&B experience.
