Concept overview
Canopy is a visionary dining concept, perched 52 metres on a ridge overlooking Thailand’s border with Myanmar and Laos. Surrounded by a 160-acre bamboo forest, and overlooking the grassland of one of Thailand’s leading elephant sanctuaries, this is one of the most unique dining experiences in Asia. The open-sided capsule whisks diners into the air, offering 360-degree vistas of the Golden Triangle.

The Design
The design is reminiscent of local beehives and uses natural materials and muted, earthy tones to provide a tranquil haven where the only interruption is the symphony of the forest. Fabricated with a stainless-steel frame, the capsule is cladded with natural bamboo straw to create the look and feel of a bird nest. The Canopy roof exterior is bamboo straw, while the interior features a bamboo mat ceiling, and the flooring of the pod is constructed with timber hardwood. The dining tabletop has also been handcrafted using solid natural Teak timber. The walkways leading up to the pod are also crafted using hardwood timber with natural rope handrails, to ensure the guests’ integration with the natural environment begins long before the ascent into the treetops.
