We transformed this grand space into a welcoming environment while preserving its historical charm. Faced with the historical scale of the arched marble walls and gold mosaic ceiling, we balanced the grandeur with warm, ambient lighting and intimate seating arrangements. We harmonized the diverse existing design elements, such as Mughal motifs and Victorian tiles, by creating a cohesive theme with a unified color palette and transitional features like jali-inspired screens. To maintain the historical marble walls integrity while incorporating modern elements, we positioned light-refracting panels to enhance, not obscure, the original design. Addressing the formality of the large room, we introduced varied seating options and table heights, ensuring a relaxed atmosphere. Decorative elements, including Elephant Swizzle sticks and patterned table tops, added visual interest and orientation. We also preserved the original fireplace’s charm with ambient candlelight, blending historical significance with contemporary comfort.
