Shilpa Suresh

Shilpa Suresh has a diverse background and a unique perspective shaped by her upbringing in India. Being fluent in six different dialects undoubtedly gives her a rich linguistic and cultural foundation, allowing her to connect with various communities and their unique perspectives. Her interest in design stems from her crafty childhood and its remarkable capacity to foster social connections and create distinct experiences within the built environment.

Shilpa’s professional journey as a Senior Associate at Rockwell Group showcases her extensive experience and expertise in hospitality design. Since joining the firm in 2014, she has worked on a diverse range of projects, from academic institutions to luxury residential amenities to hotels, in the U.S. and abroad. Current and recent work includes Johns Hopkins Student Center in Baltimore, MD; 555 Pennsylvania for Johns Hopkins University in Washington, D.C.; The Camellias Club for DLF in Gurgaon, India; and Costa Smeralda cruise ship. She has honed her skills to bring emotion and memorable personal narratives into her design over the years. By incorporating storytelling elements, she can create immersive and meaningful experiences for the users.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Shilpa demonstrates a strong passion for design and education. She actively participates in student programs at esteemed institutions like Parsons School of Design and Savannah College of Art and Design. Engaging in mentorships, portfolio reviews, guest critiques and panel discussions, she contributes to the development of emerging designers and helps shape the future of the industry. Shilpa graduated from Parsons School of Design with a Master of Fine Arts in Interior Design and received a Bachelor of Architecture from R.V. College of Architecture in Bangalore, India. Her academic foundation combined with her extensive professional experience, serves as a solid platform for her work in hospitality design and her contributions to the design community
