InterContinental and Regent Hotels / Global Head of Design
Melissa Messmer has spent her career focusing on luxury travel, hospitality trends and high-end hotel/resort and residential design, with projects spanning from the US, Europe, Middle East and Far East. She has worked for various design consultancies such as James Northcutt Associates, Wimberly Interiors and Brayton + Hughes Design Studio, leading projects for top brands such as Four Seasons, Hyatt and Ritz Carlton.
Melissa has also spent a good part of her career guiding design strategies and technical services for hotel operators such as W Hotels (Starwood Hotels) Worldwide, Fairmont/Raffles Hotels in Europe, Middle East and Africa, and most recently with Marriott Hotels overseeing luxury brands such as St. Regis, Ritz Carlton, JW Marriott and the Luxury Collection hotels in Europe.
In 2020, Melissa joined the Red Sea Development Company as Senior Director currently leading the interior design teams for 16 luxury eco-resorts on the coast of Saudi Arabia. It is one of the most forward-thinking developments under construction in the world today, focusing on sustainability, regenerative tourism, and creating a uniquely iconic global destination. In early 2022, Melissa joined the InterContinental group as Global Head of Design based in London.
