Kian Liew heads up the Global ID & Technical Services department for The Ascott Limited. He graduated from Chelsea College of Arts, University of the Arts, London, and has lived in Bangkok, Bahrain, and Hong Kong. He is currently based in Singapore where he leads a team of 10 designers and engineers. With 18 years of experience in the design industry, he has been with The Ascott Limited for over 11 years.
Kian has a keen eye for details. A constant element in his work is the coalescence of form and function. He believes in the harmony of geometry, linearity, layering, and textures to create beautiful spaces. He is meticulously disciplined in observing the “grammar of interior design”, whilst also being mindful of the coherence of occasional objects and accents.
As the head of Ascott’s Global ID & Technical Services, Kian ensures that the design and technical specifications of each project adhere to the brands’ standards and guidelines. He is also very hands-on with his team, from developing concepts, creating narratives, construction detailing, site inspections to interior styling to create beautiful spaces.
Apart from being featured in national and international publications, Kian has also collaborated with Louis Vuitton on a project in Singapore.
With his team, Kian is currently working on projects in Europe, Australia, North Asia, and all over South East Asia.
